Please tell us a bit about your background. How did you get started in design?

I started building websites in 1994 at JPL. Since I was in the IT department as an intern, I got to work on special projects. That first project ended up being a launch into my career.

My favorite early project was "Women at JPL". I was able to interview top women engineers and build a site to showcase their biographies and accomplishments, Through that, I met some truly extraordinary and inspiring people.

How long have you been with your company?

I started I-Tul in 1999 while working as a contractor at HP. I went full time in 2001 and it was the best jump I have ever made.

What is your favorite thing about the type of work you do?

My favorite thing is getting to know my Clients. There are so many interesting and innovative businesses out there and the opportunity to work in partnership with them is a blessing.

I love it when they share their pains and frustrations and I know I can build software that will make their businesses better in real measurable ways. It is an "AHA" moment every time.

What advice would you give a client in order to prepare for a new project?

Understand your target audience. The design and functionality will be driven by the best ways to serve your market.
