Please tell us a bit about your background. How did you get started in design?

I am a communication design graduate from Texas Tech University. I also had the opportunity to work as a Senior Designer for Texas Tech's in house marketing department and then went on to teach graphic design for the same department I graduated from in 2005. I worked as an adjunct professor for 4 years while also operating Stallings Design Co. Marketing, Design and Advertising firm full time.

How long have you been with your company?

Stallings Design Co. was founded in 2005.

Are you self taught or did you attend school for your industry?

All members of Stallings Design Co. have earned a BFA Degree are formally trained in Communication Design from an accredited 4 year Big 12 University.

What web browser do you use?

We prefer Safari, Firefox and Chrome.

What social media do you use for work and play? Do you have a favorite?

We prefer and utilize all social media platforms for different purposes. However; our favorite is Instagram because we all are photographers at heart.

What is your favorite thing about the type of work you do?

Working with ambitious entrepreneurs and business owners is very exciting for us. We love helping clients achieve their business and communication goals. Our partnership with these people inspires us to push our creative skills and in the process we develop new communication strategies almost daily.

What advice would you give to someone looking to get into the web design field?

Practice makes perfect! Nothing can compete with experience.

What`s your favorite development language and why?

All of them!

If you could only use one language, which one would it be?

CSS because it makes everything so neat and organized.

What do you see as the most prominent emerging technology?

Video

Who is your typical client at the moment and what types of projects are you working on?

We do not have one typical client. Our client base ranges from national restaurants, banks, medical institutions, academic training, retail, non-profit orgs and start ups. We develop custom website designs, branding, logos, brochures, email news letters, social media campaigns, PPC, Ad Words, SEO and more.

What advice would you give a client in order to prepare for a new project?

Gather as much text and image content as possible prior to contacting us for development. It is good to see what you are starting with via a DropBox folder.

What is the most common problem you deal with when working with new clients who do not have much experience with working with designers?

For many clients with little design experience I feel they need to be informed of our process. It is too often that the client is left in the dark as to what processes we are devising and completing to achieve their intended goals. Weather it be an explanation of concept development, strategy meetings, design mock ups and information architecture review. These are all processes we use to help clients feel in the loop and assured that our method is organized and in line with their goals.

Do you use a CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) or any type of project management or proposal software?

Yes, available upon request.

What is your standard hourly rate?

80

Do you have a minimum budget for a new client?

Yes, the minimum budget is based on the scope of the project requested. We only provide custom quotes because no two problems or solutions are the same scope to solve.
