About Me:
Summary:
I specialize in user friendly brochure style (usually Flash or static HTML) and Content Management Systems (CMS) websites with very quick turnaround. My quotes are based on the project not hours and I don't have problem with minor update throughout the year. I also have 10 years experience doing Power Point design for a financial company.
I'm a small business owner myself and understand both sides of the equation. I find the best way to complete a project is to ask the customer for website they like, then put together 4 or 5 samples based off their suggestions, allow the customer select one, then piece it together with their information.
Background:
Timothy Holmgren started to design specialty advertising CD-ROMS while attending the University of Colorado at Boulder. As the internet developed, Tim designed the application entitled the 100 Proof Cocktail Planner, one of the first Flash applications designed for distribution via E-mail. In 2000, the 100 Proof Cocktail Planner was nominated for the Ziff Davis?s (PC Magazine) Shareware of the Year Award. Leveraging off the brand and client base, Tim started an online liquor store for New York City called orderbooze.com. The first half of 2001 saw the company growing until the laws and regulations changed and the New York Liquor Authority officially stated that an internet company can be considered a franchise. (It is illegal to franchise liquor stores in New York City). Not wishing to operate illegally, the company was put on hold until the laws change.
In August 2001, Tim was offered a job to work for a startup new media company designing a system to deliver digital video (commercials) to ATMs in Shanghai, PRC. Tim accepted the opportunity and moved to China on a 1 year contract.
In September 2002, Tim stayed in China to open and run an American Café which he subsequently owned and managed for 5 years in Shanghai, PRC. Tim?s clients included the US, German, Spanish, British, Australian and Italian Consulates plus various western companies including General Electric, UBS AG, and Citigroup. In 2005, Tim?s restaurant, Valley Gourmet, was voted "Best Business Luncheon in Shanghai" by Cityweekend Magazine. In August 2006, Tim sold the café and returned to the US to research and pursue a new business opportunity involving electronic alert notification and identifying services for missing patients.
