DQ News: Entrepreneur Grooms Her Path Into The Pet Business

Frances Franzoni has always been passionate about animals and grooming. So, it came as no surprise to the people around her when she decided to enter that industry. After working as a groomer for another company, that was when she decided it was time to go into business for herself, too.

“I like grooming dogs, and I want to be in the area for a while,” said the Cumming resident.

But getting a business started is not easy.

“Forsyth County is really tough to get all of their inspections done,” Franzoni said. “I had no idea when I signed up for the shop what I was going to go through. If I knew, I would have been a little more hesitant.”

But was it all worth it?

“Heck yeah, it was worth it,” she said. “I love the freedom. I have a really loving kind of way with dogs, and I’m happy I get to do that everyday.”

In July, she opened the doors to her 1,200-square-foot salon. She has also hired an assistant, who’s currently learning how to groom.

Each dog grooming takes an average of two hours. Her place does not keep the dogs in cages, so she said they don’t get stressed out.

The cost per dog ranges, but an average groom is about $45.
