DQ News: ASA After Roastcosy For Claims

Helen Waterston has been told by advertising watchdogs the ASA to change the wording on her website for the Roastcosy.

But yesterday, she slammed the order following a single complaint which, she says, may have come from a competitor.

Mum-of-one Helen, 46, added: “It’s ludicrous. I just don’t understand how just one complaint leads to this.

“I have tried to find out who the complaint came from as it’s very detailed and goes to three pages.

“It looks very professional – it could have come from a tinfoil competitor. I just don’t know.”

On her homepage, it says the Roastcosy is “made of high quality stainless steel and flexible chainmail, it can be applied before or after cooking… no more burning, only perfect browning and crisping”.

It claims it “reduces food shrinkage and retains more natural juices”.

It also quotes from a review of the product by a third party.

But the ASA stepped in after the complaint and said some of her claims were “misleading” and “exaggerated” the product’s effectiveness.
