DQ News: When consumers watch ads, advertisers donate to charity

We’ve already seen several efforts that reward members of the public with free mobile minutes for watching ads — Pumbby was one example — but it’s a fairly safe bet that charitable donations would be an even more compelling reward for some. Enter TousDonateurs, a French site that enables consumers to watch video ads in exchange for donations to the charity of their choice.

Visitors to TousDonateurs begin by registering on the site for free and selecting a charitable organization that matters to them. They can then watch one of a variety of 30-second ads from TousDonateurs’ advertising partners, before answering a simple question about that video. Once their response is validated, the advertiser contributes EUR 1 on behalf of the viewer to the charity he or she selected.

Making donation easy is important in any era, but in this cash-strapped age, enabling donations without expense may be even more critical. A model to emulate in your own charitable niche or part of the world?
